Live Agenda: Illegal Operation -special guests The Sanglass Moment- @ Lazy Club, January 11th 2025
John Lee Hooker's black cat lived for 17 years. A few years before the great bluesman passed away, the cat was adopted by barber Stefanos (Steve) Saitis, who owned the "Boom Boom" barbershop across the street from John L.H.'s home in Los Altos, California.
In 1989, Stefanos used some herbs to cure the cat's alopecia. It was then that John Lee Hooker was inspired and wrote the hit "The Healer" in his honor, gifting him one of his hats.
Stefanos Saitis, along with the black cat and John Lee Hooker's hat, returned to Greece in 2000 and opened a music studio in Kypseli, the studio where Illegal Operation began their rehearsals. The hat was hung on the wall, and the black cat would lie on top of the band's warm amplifiers. The magical spirit of John Lee Hooker was there, guiding them into an endless "boogie."
For 24 years, the Illegal Operation logo has featured this hat along with the black cat, always with them, embedded in their essence.
On Saturday, January 11th, they will present their musical stories at Lazy Club in Vrilissia, with special guests The Sanglass Moment.
